This language course is designed for learners who are not only interested in Scandinavian languages and culture but also wish to become part of the Nordic Rowing Association (Nordiska) in Zurich. Participants can choose to study either Swedish or Norwegian, progressing from beginner level up to B1 (intermediate) proficiency.
Upon completing the B1 level in either Swedish or Norwegian, Marins Linguistics Academy— in collaboration with the Nordiska Roddföreningen i Zürich—will support learners in obtaining membership at the club.
Founded in 1878, the Nordic Rowing Association (Nordiska) in Zurich is the only pan-Nordic organization that remained active after the dissolution of the union between Norway and Sweden. While the association primarily focuses on rowing, it also serves as a vibrant social hub for Nordic people living in Switzerland.
The historic clubhouse, over 100 years old, is beautifully located on Mythenquai, along the southern shore of Lake Zurich. Membership offers a wide range of benefits, including access to beginner rowing courses, regattas, open training sessions, and additional rowing-related activities.
Beyond rowing, members can enjoy the club’s private lakeside area for swimming, barbecuing, or simply relaxing, the gym . The club also hosts traditional Scandinavian celebrations and social events throughout the year.
