Prerequisites
This course is appropriate for those who have at least B1 level in Swedish, as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Approach
The course aims to enhance participants' proficiency in the Swedish language while fostering critical thinking through the exploration of German literature. Using an integrated approach, the course combines language acquisition with literary analysis, offering a multifaceted learning experience. The participants read, discuss, and analyze a curated selection of Swedish literary texts, developing their linguistic skills through vocabulary expansion, idiomatic expressions, and grammar exercises. Group discussions, oral presentations, and writing assignments centered on the texts further reinforce these skills. Additionally, participants undertake a small research assignment within the specified research domain. By immersing themselves in literary works, the participants experience the target language in a natural and engaging way, accelerating their learning process. By the end of the course, they have a deepened understanding of the Swedish language and literature, along with advanced skills in reading, interpreting, and discussing complex texts.

Final Project: The participants complete a final project or essay that synthesizes language skills and literary analysis, showcasing their ability to interpret texts and express ideas in Swedish.
Teaching materials: Secondary literature—such as resources on cultural and historical contexts, literary analysis techniques, grammar and vocabulary, glossaries, and summaries—serves to complement primary literature, including classical works, medieval literature, and contemporary voices.

Placement test: The placement test, which includes grammar exercises and a personal interview ( max 15 min), is recommended.
