I took both A1 and A2 German classes online with Petra. She has a very clear way of explaining things given her phD in linguistics. This made learning the language much easier because she teaches in a very thorough way (ie. explaining syntax, semantics, phonetics, etc) and I found this led me to a better understanding of the language in a quicker amount of time. She is very attentive, professional, flexible and really creates a fun, personalised learning experience. I very much enjoyed my classes with Petra and I highly recommend her for German classes.

I highly recommend Petra as a German tutor. Petra is not only very nice but also incredibly knowledgeable and experienced. One of the things I appreciate most about Petra is her flexibility. She has always been able to adjust her schedule to accommodate mine.

Petra was my German teacher when I arrived in Switzerland. She was very flexible with the time and location of the lessons and is always very friendly. With her help over the course of one year I managed to improve my German skills significantly. The lessons were very pleasant and relaxed, we discussed various relevant topics and at the same time I was able to improve my vocabulary, grammar skills and pronunciation. One last thing, Petra even offered lessons for children and helped my young daughter to get up to speed with her German, which she needed in the kindergarten.

With multiple Masters from Stockholm & Zurich Universities, as well as learning in the heartland of Germany itself - Berlin, she is well-equipped to teach many European languages. I personally learnt German with her- the experience was par-excellence. She knows the pain-areas a student can encounter & helps you navigate accordingly, giving ample opportunities to practice in a very friendly environment. I really liked her approach on the course, she was always prepared for every lesson and she was clear on what are the items that require more focus. If she saw we didn’t understand something, she was always willing to change her explanations until things made sense. I think this made a huge difference.
I really enjoyed our “speaking” part of the course. We would always discuss interesting facts about our day to day life, current events, and cultural trends while practicing our vocabulary. It was a very fun activity we had every Tuesday morning - as much fun as learning German can be :)

She is an expert in effectively using online tools (documents, calendar, online conferencing) in creating near identical in-person classes. I have taken 1:1 lessons but my friends who were part of her group classes shared that she fosters a sense of community in the group classes, encouraging collaboration and mutual support among students.

Beyond her exceptional teaching skills, Petra was approachable, patient, and always willing to provide individualised support, and also helped draft compelling letters for the Swiss Authorities which helped me tremendously. She created a safe space where I felt comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
